More and more independent music becomes known and popular. Formed in 2010, Sunset Rollercoaster became popular under this circumstances. In addition to accumulating lots of audiences in Taiwan, they also held concerts around the world, as tickets are always sold-out, thus earned about 400,000 listeners in China. . To deeply understand the benefits creating by video and audio streaming media for independent music, Sunset Rollercoaster is the main research axis, with reference of thesis of independent music, technology industry, music carrier, consumer behavior, and interviews with relevant key person, fans and other people work in music industry. It tries to discuss (1) the business policy of the Sunset Rollercoaster from video and audio streaming media to live concert; (2) the spirit of Sunset Rollercoaster and the subculture group; (3) the change of the Sunset Rollercoaster’s audience behavior and value perception, coupled with the author's immersive observation in the music field, summed up whether the rise of the video and audio streaming media would actually benefit the independent music or not. This study confirms that video and audio streaming media does benefits for independent music, not only can collide with more music styles and possibilities, let music breakthrough the limit of time and distance, drive old songs back to temperature, song list becomes part of the economic industry, but also protect musicians’ copyrights. However, the limitations imposed by this trend cannot be ignored. When the cost of listening to music decreases and competitors increase, how can independent bands break through the difficulties and be heard, and further effectively convert the listening rate into a real benefit becomes an important issue currently.
