Unlike the past understanding of urban planning, it is seen as a new approach to urban planning that can challenge existing planning systems, and even further emphasizes empowerment and opportunities for people to participate in planning. Looking back at Taiwan's experience, after 2010, short-term land use strategies have become part of the urban planning policy. In order to understand the practice of temporary urbanism in Taiwan, this study will propose three research questions: (1) When did temporary urbanism emerge in Taipei? How did it appear? (2) What is the distribution and pattern of temporary space under the development of Taipei? And how are these temporary spaces formed? (3) Using Open Green to analyze the process of urban governance in Taipei in the past. What is the impact on the city after the creation of temporary space? Due to relevant discussions, there is currently not much discussion in Taiwan. Therefore, this study uses qualitative research as a method to review the definition of temporary urbanism and its practice in Taipei City through textual analysis and semi-structured interviews. The study found four: First, the emergence of temporary urbanism is to turn the idle space that is regarded as a problem into a strategy, and as an important asset of the city, specifically, it is an extension of Taipei's good-looking series two. Second, in the urban policy of Taipei, temporary urbanism plays a policy of deconstruction and re-assembly, but in reality it shoulders the task of urban land redevelopment. Third, the practice of temporary urbanism in Taipei City has not been more than 10 years, and the effective results are only the spatial sporadic and aesthetic improvement. However, there is not much connection between the entire planning system or the urban regeneration and empowerment claimed by the policy. Therefore, although the basic concept of temporary urbanism has been used as an important urban strategy by the Taipei City Government, whether it can continue to affect the urban space remains to be seen.
