碩士 === 國立臺北大學 === 經濟學系 === 107 === Using data from Panel Study in Taiwan from 1999 to 2016, this paper observes how the influential factors affect the income distribution at municipal and non-municipal levels after the first review of City-County Reorganization in 2009. This paper finds the demographic factors between municipalities and non-municipalities have different influence. Results show that increasing proportion of population ages 0-14 is correlated with higher income inequality because urbanization leads to the higher opportunity costs of raising children. Moreover, working age population in municipality have a mitigating effect on inequality while but not in non-municipalities. Finally, income factor is negatively correlated with income equality in non-municipality after 2009, since the reorganization of cities and counties has changed the original salary structure and made the wealth gap grow wider.
