Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣藝術大學 === 音樂學系 === 107 === Transcriptions have varied throughout music history and the style of individual composers. Liszt arranged by many composers’ works, including vocal, instrumental, orchestral compositions, and others. Among the seven hundred transcribed works, there are fifty-five compositions exclusively dedicated to Lieders composed by Schubert. In this paper, I will analyze five of Liszt’s Schubert lieder transcriptions including Auf dem Wasser zu singen, Erlkönig, Gretchen am Spinnrade, Frühlingsglaube, and Ave Maria. The differences and similarities between the originals and the transcriptions will be discussed. My research is divided into the following four chapters: Chapter One: Introduction. The purpose and motivation behind this research, as well as the methodology employed. Chapter Two: The historical background of Liszt and his compositional style. Chapter Three: Analysis and performance practice of the selected works. Chapter Four: Conclusion, with suggestions for performance interpretation.
