The research objects and repertoire are: Askell Masson's Kim (2001) and Nicolas Martynciow's Tchik (2003), Alexej Gerassimez Asventuras (2011), Casey Cangelosi's Tap Oratory (2015), Gene Koshinski's Swerve (2016). The purpose of this paper is to discuss the history of the snare drum and the structure of the five snare drums, and then to study the five contemporary works. Finally, the conclusion is drawn through the research and analysis of five works. The full text is divided into five chapters: The first two chapters introduce the research motivation, research scope and methodology, while the second one introduces the snare drum’s history, structure and grip. The third chapter expands into snare soloists in the 21st century, introducing their lives, repertoire and songs as well as their performance instructions and notations of the five works in their compositions. Chapter 4 explains the differents and common traits of their creative composition of every composer. The author summarizes and comments the results after a comprehensive research. Through analysis and discussion, this study finds that in the 21st century, the solo performances of snare drums have commonalities in improvisation, core motives, fixed rhythms, timbre and visual effects, as well as differences in the creative face of composers, and follow the process of contemporary creative writing. The author anticipates the development of the snare drum’s “Infinite possibilities". CHUNG, YIU-KWONG 鍾耀光 2018 學位論文 ; thesis 92 zh-TW |
