Compositional background, analysis of musical structure and thematic material, and general interpretive practice is included in the discussion followed by interpretive ideas focusing on the timbre changes given by the author.
The study is written in five chapters: Chapter one is an introduction to the thesis. Chapter two includes biography of Stravinsky, features of neo-classical music, and the relationship between the Divertimento and the ballet Le Baiser de la Fée . Chapter three is an analysis of the music. Chapter four provides interpretive ideas of timbre usage and musical phrasing in order to present a full view of the music. The last chapter concludes the whole study. The study aims to provide a reference for players interested in learning this piece.
