Description
Summary:碩士 === 靜宜大學 === 會計學系 === 107 === Since 2013, Listed and OTC companies in Taiwan have adopted the IFRSs. The accounting policy has shifted from conservatism to neutrality. There are few studies related to changes of accounting conservatism before and after the implementation of IFRSs. The purposes of this study are as follows. First, I investigate whether accounting conservatism exists in Taiwan’s capital market after IFRSs. Second, I test the relationship between the demand of debtholders with accounting conservatism. In addition, the relationship between affiliated business groups and accounting conservatism is exposed. Using a sample of the listed and OTC companies in Taiwan from 1996 to 2017, I adopt Basu’s (1997) asymmetric timeliness model. My results showed that accounting conservatism in Taiwan’s capital market still exists after IFRSs. There is a positive relationship between the demand of debtholders and accounting conservatism. The relationships between different affiliated business groups and accounting conservatism are different. Accounting conservatism of professional manager business group is stronger and government-controlled business group is weaker.
