| Summary: | 碩士 === 東吳大學 === 歷史學系 === 107 === The dragon is a very famous and important legendary creature in Chinese culture. The study of dragon is a very important subject in Chinese history. However, after entering the twentieth century, researchers must to face a question: "What is dragon?"
Today's research of dragon can be roughly divided into two categories. One is to find the origin and prototype of the dragon, and the other is to study from the perspectives of belief, image, and literature.
Today, most people think that dragon does not exist. However, there are still many records about dragon in Chinese history. That means the materials used in the study and the viewing angles may have to be expanded.
In order to be closer to the angle of the ancients, the literary sketches are very important materials, and the most worthy of attention in the Tang and Song Dynasties.
In recent years, many researchers have noticed that dragon in the Tang and Song's literary sketches have different diversity from the traditional impressions, and both emphasize that dragon's role has changed in the Tang and Song Dynasties.But at the same time, dragon's "outside", has not been followed up.
Analyze what kind of dragons appears in the historical materials, is the most basic but still unfinished work before answering the question "What is dragon?" In order to supplement the research of the predecessors, but also paving the way for further research, the author will analyze the appearance of dragon and its variation with the literary sketches of Tang and Song Dynasties.
In this thesis, The dragon is divided into two categories: "the original dragon" and " the variation of dragon". Nalyze it and observe the appearance of The dragon, and we can know why dragon in the literary sketches is called dragon.
