While the woman’s words makes up 59% of “Song of Songs”, the man’s words accounts for 36%. In the “Song of Songs”, the woman’s love is more proactive than the man’s and is limitless in nature. For the current thesis, the author decided to choose the woman’s love for the man as well as the theology contained in “Song of Songs” as the thesis topic. Regarding the theology contained in “Song of Songs” different translations of love and the breakthrough of love is discussed. The thesis first explores past interpretations of “Song of Songs” which help us to understand the interpretation history of the book. The author then explores the historical background of the “Song of Songs” and discusses who the author of the book is. During this section several Bible commentaries are examined including Archie C.C. Lee and You Bin’s “The Megilloth: The Hebrew Scripture and Community Identity”. Included in the thesis is a study of nine keywords identified for study from “Song of Songs”. From the examination of these keywords, the author finds that “Song of Songs” is a book of love, vitality and motivation. Lastly, the author identifies and discusses eight types of love in “Song of Songs” which represents the womans expression of love for the man and of love itself.
