Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北科技大學 === 工業設計系創新設計碩士班 === 107 === Analogical thinking plays an important role in the performance of creativity, and the competency to select the appropriate analogical source and extract the appearance and structure that can match the analogy target is the common challenge in design-by-analogy. This study explores the relationship between creativity and design-by-analogy competency (i.e., analogical source selection and appearance and structure extraction) through the participation of 81 non-design background students in an analogical design questionnaire. The results show that (1) students with high creativity tend to select analogical sources helpful for innovation, (2) students with low creativity tend to select analogical sources not helpful for innovation, and (3) students choosing innovative sources preferred structural analogy in their ideation. In addition, this results also show that there are different correlations between different creativities and design-by-analogy competency. This study provides a reference for improving designers’ creativity and developing design-by-analogy in the future.
