Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北科技大學 === 管理學院工業工程與管理EMBA專班 === 107 === The financial market is composed of various roles from financial services to investors. The security company plays an important role as an intermediary institution by providing the direct financial and indirect financial services. The securities market has been developed so far more than 50 years in Taiwan. There were more than 400 stock brokerages in the past, when the government announced the regulation of Securities and Exchange Act in 1988. Numerous brokerages were merged and many comprehensive securities firms were built up. The financial market went through a revolution; the big ones turned bigger after the government announced the financial holding Company Act in 2001. Regarding the Securities Firm considered in this case, they became the leader from a small brokerage to a well-known top ranking firm in Taiwan’s financial market. They also grasp a good opportunity to carry out international development and also become the top tier firm in the scale of assets, business rankings and net profit. The main goal of this thesis is to analyze the internal and external environments of the industry in terms of a strategic viewpoint under the paradigm of the “five force analysis” model proposed by Michael Porter in 1980. By researching the development history of the case company in such a competitive environment and examining the operating results from the financial and sales performance, SWOT analysis proposed by Andrews in 1971 and TOWS matrix proposed by Heinz Weihrich in 1982 are used to deconstruct strategies which the case firm has used and planned for the past ten years. To summarize this thesis, it provides a pivotal reference for strategic planning of Taiwan securities industry in the future.
