Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北科技大學 === 光電工程系 === 107 === In this study, the electro-optical properties of cholesteric liquid crystal driven by in-plane electric field are investigated. We assemble a self-made interdigital-electrode substrate and a glass substrate into an empty liquid crystal cell, which is filled with a mixture of chiral molecules (ZLI-3786) and negative nematic liquid crystals (MJ031800), and then obtain a cholesteric liquid crystal sample. The cholesteric liquid crystal has a helical structure that results in Bragg reflection. The horizontal electric field is applied to drive the cholesteric liquid crystal by the interdigital electrode, so that the liquid crystal molecules rotate and gradually change from standing-helix to the lying-helix structure. By observing the Bragg reflected light, we analyze the change of molecular arrangement with the electric field effect for the samples of different thicknesses.
