Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺南藝術大學 === 藝術史學系藝術史評與古物研究碩士班 === 107 === Although the urbanization in Taiwan began in the early 1950s, it was not until the 1960s that a mass movement of people from rural to cities occurred. With the increasing rate of urban population surpassed that of national population, divided everyday lifestyles between cities and countryside became ever more understandable. We now could revisit such social conditions through the lens of early Taiwanese-language films, whose target audience were mostly the habitants of central and southern Taiwan, to observe the emotions, feelings and actions of urban and rural people before, during and after their interaction. This thesis aims to investigate the co-construction and the meaning of space, characters and objects represented in the Taiwanese-language films in the 1960s. According to the type of space, from outdoor to indoor and from the public to the private, I analyze the four levels of food, clothing, housing and travel that are closely related to the daily life of the people. Firstly, I discuss outdoor public space, indoor and outdoor industrial space, indoor private space, and analyze the mode of urban and rural images represented in those movies. Secondly, from the difference represented by urban/rural overall economy and individual economic behavior, a thorough inquiry to the reasons for shaping the poor and the rich as well as the construction of urban and rural images will be conducted.
