The health benefits of green tea has become more and more popular in today's society and the scientific community. Due to its excellent antioxidation, people like it very much and many studies have showed that it can improve cognitive function, but we are still unclear about what kind of cognitive functions it is. Methods: A double-blind was conducted in this study.Sixteen healthy individuals (age: 22.8 ± 3 years, body weight: 58.5 ± 10.3 kg) were received either GTE (480 ± 96 mg/day) or placebo everyday for 6 weeks. They were had half an hour cycling exercise challenge with 65-75% VO2max intensity and 20 - 80 times of squat jump three times per week for 6 weeks. Blood was taken before and after 6 weeks supplementary. After all participants had the blood test, they performed a 10 km challenge. Cognitive-function were tested three times: before 10 km challenge, immediately of 10 km challenge and thirty minutes after 10 km challenge. Blood samples were used to analysis brain derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF) and human growth hormone(HGH). Results: The changes of thirty minutes in brain-reaction test were significantly better than in placebo trial after a six-week GTE supplementation. Conclusion: Our study demonstrates that provision of a GTE supplement provides greater cognitive functions.
