Aging of body composition is accompanied by loss of muscle, weakening of muscle strength and motor function, and unable to cope with daily life.Aim: This study was designed to investigate the effect of muscle mass on functional fitness of elderly women in Miaoli area.Methods: A total of 275 elderly women over 65 years old were asked to fill in relevant questionnaires and perform functional fitness tests. The values were expressed as mean ± standard deviation, and the results were compared by Pearson's product difference and independent sample t test.Result: 1. Muscle mass was correlated with grip strength, biceps flexion for 30 seconds, chair 8-foot detour and open-eyes standing with on one foot.2. The normal (including below) group's muscle mass is related to grip strength, back grip, biceps flexion for 30 seconds, chair 8-foot detour, open-eyes standing with on one foot.3. The overweight group's muscle mass is related to open-eyes standing with on one foot, grip strength, chair 8-foot detour and back grabbing.4. The muscle mass of the group without sarcopenia was correlated with the forward flexion on the chair.5. The muscle mass of the group with sarcopenia was correlated with the forward flexion on the chair and biceps flexion for 30 seconds.6. The functional fitness performance of the group without sarcopenia was superior to that of the group with sarcopenia.Conclusion: The functional fitness performance of the group without sarcopenia is better than that one with sarcopenia. The results show that adequate muscle mass is very important, and muscle mass is significantly correlated with agility and dynamic and static balance. In addition, trunk muscle mass was significantly correlated with upper limb muscle strength, agility, upper limb softness and dynamic and static balance of lighter weight individuals. It is suggested that agility, dynamic and static balance should be considered as the primary training elements to promoting action ability in community, and the training of upper limb muscle strength and upper limb flexibility should be added
