| Summary: | 碩士 === 元智大學 === 社會暨政策科學學系 === 107 === Same-sex marriage is a controversial issue in the world, there are twenty-six countries have legalized this new type of marriage. That is the success of the LGBTQ community advocacy process and its supporters. At present, in Vietnam, the draft law on same-sex marriage is being discussed by the Vietnamese Communist Party and Government at the sessions of the National Assembly, which has raised opposing views in society about or should not legitimize same-sex marriages, and at the same time create a strong wave of LGBTQ community struggles for adoption of this bill. Therefore, this is a good time to conduct research into the advocacy process of the LGBTQ community by gathering information on the steps required to establish policy advocacy such as identifying support organizations or opposed organizations, advocacy targets, advocacy strategies (including their goals, methods, and allies), and evaluation of the effectiveness of these strategies to draw limits or experience for other strategies in the future. The study was conducted to collect data in Vietnam through the use of qualitative research methods to collect information from the experiences of LGBTQ community members present in Ho Chi Minh City.
