Description
Summary:This thesis tries to clarify why more houses such as passive houses is not built and at the same time the differences is described with the conventional construction as a starting point. Sweden has set environmental objectives to reduce energy consumption in buildings by 50 percent by the year 2050 compared to 1995. The passivehouse concept could have a significant role, particularly in the reconstruction of buildings with high energy consumption. For sustainable building the passivehouse technology is an economically viable concept while benefiting the environment. Initially an introduction is given of the background to the problem, purpose and objective of the thesis. This highlights the Swedish energy objectives and energy consumption as well as the residential sector consumption until today. Competitive advantages of passive houses are highlighted while attitude, information, knowledge and willingness of different actors in the construction industry are analyzed. To obtain information, literature studies and in-depth interviews with the actors involved that have the knowledge and experience required, were made. The results of this work has resulted in a number of conclusions which summarizes the reasons why the market at the moment looks like it does and therefore why more passive houses in Sweden are not built.
