Description
Summary:This study is about the preschool environment. Earlier studies show that preschool environment affect children’s development and learning. This study will exemplify the perspective of active preschool teachers of how they see at preschool play environment. The aim of this study is to bring insight and understanding on how preschool teachers see upon their play environment and the play that occurs. The survey methodology is interviews with four preschool teachers from four different departments who tell their view on preschool play environment. The result of the study show that preschool teachers consider that play environment should be changeable, inspiring, allowing and adapted for the children. When preschool teachers design the play environment, they start with watching the children’s play. Through the play the preschool teachers see the children’s needs and interests and from there they can start design the play environment. Preschool teacher sees the importance to create independent children and a tool for that is to have an allowing and inspiring play environment. To conclude there is a discussion on the significance of weakly and strongly coded rooms.
