The situation around the Chinese startup scene changed dramatically. With the current government’s Five-Year-Plan, it becomes obvious that the political change is in favor of those young individuals who bring jobs and new perspectives for the country. Obviously, the target is not to promote western startups to settle in China primarily but to give Chinese startups the inspiration through the foreign spirit. So the research question goes as follows: What aspects of a manufacturing project will influence the success of a foreign entrepreneur in China? The methodology for this study is widely based on literature review and semistructured interviews with entrepreneurs, consultancy agencies, and nongovernmental organizations. Whereas the focus lays on foreign startups whose goal is to set up manufacturing of a consumer product in China.
