Distriktssköterskans uppfattning om sin yrkesroll : En intervjustudie

Flertalet studier visar att distriktssköterskor, med sin specialistsjuksköterskeutbildning, anser sig väl lämpade att arbeta hälsopreventivt. Trots detta prioriteras inte folkhälsoarbete inom primärvården utan vikten läggs på mer sjukdomsorienterade arbetsuppgifter. Syftet med studien var att undersöka distriktssköterskors uppfattning om sin yrkesroll och om den skulle kunna utvecklas samt i så fall hur. Studien genomfördes med en deskriptiv och explorativ design, med semistrukturerade intervjuer.   I resultatet framkom tre kategorier. Den första kategorin En stolt men frustrerad distriktssköterska visar att distriktssköterskorna anser att de har ett brett och självständigt yrke men att de borde arbeta mer hälsopreventivt. Den andra kategorin Dagens organisation försvårar distriktssköterskans arbete beskriver att distriktssköterskorna anser att dagens ersättningssystem samt senare års omorganisationer har försvårat deras arbete. Distriktssköterskorna anser att de som styr måste börja använda deras kompetens på rätt sätt. Den tredje kategorin Folkhälsoarbete anses viktigt i en oviss framtid visar att distriktssköterskorna hoppas få arbeta mer hälsopreventivt i framtiden. De menar att de kan komma behöva specialisera sig mer inom sitt yrke, men att den allmänna distriktssköterskan fortfarande kommer behövas.   Andra yrkeskategorier samt politiker måste informeras om distriktssköterskornas breda kompetens, befolkningskännedom och förmåga att arbeta hälsofrämjande, och det är distriktssköterskornas ansvar att informera om detta. === A majority of studies shows that district nurses, with their specialist education, are especially well prepared to work with health prevention. Despite this preventive health work is not a priority in primary health care where the main concern is basal healthcare work. The purpose of the study was to explore the district nurses’ view about their professional role and if it’s possible to develop and if it is in what way. The study was carried out with a descriptive and explorative design, with semi structured interviews.   The result showed three categories. The first category A proud but frustrated district nurse shows that the district nurses regard they have a broad and independently work, and that their main work tasks should be health prevention. The second category The organization of today hampers the district nurse’s work describes that the district nurses mean that the replacement system of today as well as the reorganizations of the past years has hampered their work. The district nurses consider that the authorities must start to use their competence in the right way. The third The public health work is deemed to be important in an uncertain future shows that the district nurses hope to work more with health prevention in the future. They mean that they may need to specialize within their own profession, but that the general district nurse will still be needed.   Other occupational categories as well as politicians must be informed about the district nurses’ broad competence, population awareness and ability to work health preventive and it’s up to the district nurses to inform about this.
