The prevalence for chronic kidney disease has increased worldwide and it is a disease which is very expensive to the society, both local and global. Aim: Investigate the change in everyday life for patients over the age of 18 with chronic kidney disease that receive hemodialysis treatment. Method: A literature review based on 11 original papers with qualitative approach. Results: The result showed that the dialysis treatment influence everyday life from several aspects. The result shows that patients experiencing a change in the everyday life do to travel, food and drinks, social relationships, fatigue and economy. All these categories were affected mostly negative compared to before start of dialysis. The participants witness a mentally change. Living in doubt gave the patients anxiety, and that it affected the quality of everyday life. Conclusion: This qualitative study contribute to a developed knowledge about the everyday life and thoughts of patients receiving hemodialysis. Patients who starts treatment experiences a change in life, who affect the majority negative. In order to give the best possible care, the nurse require a developed knowledge on how patients in hemodialysis treatment experience the everyday life changes.
