Description
Summary:The research presented in this thesis investigates a method of objectively quantifying tissue stiffness post radiotheiapy. The project has involved the design, development and modification of an indentation system that was compared with the currently used subjective clinical assessment. The breast has been chosen as the prime site for investigation in the light of the high value placed on cosmesis by patients, the ease of access to these tissues, and the availability of the untreated breast to serve as a control.
