Reality in fantasy spirit of a kyrie

This thesis explores aspects of the Fantasy genre, particularly in regards to the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, Ursula Le Guin, and J.K. Rowling, which have significantly influenced the writing of my novel Spirit of a Kyrie. Spirit of a Kyrie is a Young Adult fantasy novel that follows the quest of a young girl as she attempts to become a great knight. The critical element explores the Tolkienesque tradition, the Young Adult narrative, the Good and Evil binary in Fantasy literature, and the ways in which Fantasy addresses reality. More importantly, it addresses the ways in which Spirit of a Kyrie has utilized these aspects and reshaped Fantasy traditions. While Spirit of a Kyrie offers readers many of the same elements that are part of earlier works of Fantasy, it brings in a significant degree of novelty that keeps the novel from becoming a straightforward imitation of earlier works.
