Description
Summary:Human resource development needs to take cognisance of the unique challenges the workplace of the future will pose for individuals in order to be able to effectively prepare individuals for the future. The objective of this study was to evaluate a training programme that was based on the principles of social constructivism and focused on developing people for the workplace of the future. A non-equivalent groups design with a pre-and post-measurement was used to evaluate the programme. The experimental group consisted of thirty-six individuals and the control group consisted of twenty individuals. The training programme contributed to a significant increase in the creativity, adaptability and self-acceptance of the experimental group (compared with the control group). These characteristics are necessary to succeed in the future workplace. The training programme thus made a valuable contribution to the development of the experimental group for the workplace of the future. === Dissertation (MCom (Human Resources Management))--University of Pretoria, 2006. === Human Resource Management === unrestricted
