Requirements for a graphical user interface on a local area network are discussed, specifically the Systems Management Department laboratories at Naval Postgraduate School. Compatibility and interoperability of network operating system, PC operating system and network hardware are considered. The research includes a review of graphical user interfaces and current operating systems. Actual system configuration experimentation is reported using various combinations of graphical user interface and application programs on the network. The conclusions presented are based on results of research and experimentation performed, with consideration given to network management issues. 2013-04-29T22:51:40Z 2013-04-29T22:51:40Z 1995-03 Thesis http://hdl.handle.net/10945/31581 en_US This publication is a work of the U.S. Government as defined in Title 17, United States Code, Section 101.
