Description
Summary:Thesis entitled Czech and french reception of novels The Joke and Identity from Milan Kundera inquire into critical acceptance of czech written novel The Joke from 1967 and french written novel Identity from 1997. In sub-section about czech reception process of Kundera's first novel The Joke recensions are presented by chapters of the most accentuated characteristics given to the the book by the reviewers. Chapters are followed 76 by brief summary. In following chapter about francophonie reception most significant responses from french literary reviewers are introduced with emphasis on dissimilarities in perception in comparison to czech literary reviewers. On the contrary, the second part of thesis first presents most remarkable francophonie reviews of french written novel Identity again followed by chapters of the most accentuated characteristics given to the the book in czech media. Reception process in case of Identity novel is complicated in light of absence of czech translation. Though it illegaly came out on the Internet nine years after french edition, it only invoked series of disputes, often not literary and conversant personality of Milan Kunder rather then art quality of novel.
