I have chosen the topic of my thesis because of my interest in the problems relating to the discrimination and human rights. Besides, I am interested in the labour law. At the begining of my thesis I deal with the definition of the discrimination, its types and forms. The second chapter deals with the most important international treaties regulating the ban of discrimination and equal treatment in labour-management relations, concluded on the ground of the United Nations, the International Labour Organisation and the Council of Europe. The third chapter concentrates on the legislation of the European union. It has considerable impact to the Czech legislation, so I think it is appropriate to deal with this legislation in detail. As an introduction I treat the primary sources of European law, the institutive treaties. The most important is the Treaty establishing the European community, especially its Article 141, that committed the member states to implement the equal pay for women and men.
