Summary:Introduction: any ENT specialist meets in his praxis a treatment dilemma of impaired nasal flow. Chronic hypertrophic rhinitis belongs among the most frequent cause of bilateral nasal obstruction. The evaluation of diode laser for treatment of nasal mucosa is a possibility of surgical approach. Aim of the work: examination of subepithelial laser coagulation damage on nasal mucosa. Follow-up of the damage of the nasal mucosa on histological specimen at laboratory animals. Determination of effect of benzalconium chloride remedies on the quality of mucocilliary transport. Material and methods: domestic pig as a laboratory animal was chosen for the experimental part of the work. The mucosa of the turbinates was treated with a diode laser (wire) in a contact mode, which was applied under the epithelium. 16 animals in total were treated. Histological take-off was performed the 3rd and the 8th posttreatment day. For the clinical part a group of 89 patients was collected with a diagnosis of chronic hypertrophic rhinitis. The group was dividend to 3 subgroups. The first subgroup comprised of all patients taking a nasal steroid.
