Summary:This project discusses the theme of key competencies in czech schools. It mainly focuses on the communicative comptence, mentioned in the curricular document called "Rámcový vzdělávací program pro základní vzdělávání". Moreover, it focuses on the part "Jazyk a jazyková komunikace" from the same document. The aim is to recognise Essentials elements of the communicative competence and integrate them into English teaching specifically considering the special needs of young learners. This thesis follows with a section containing theoretical information and practical experience within the Danish education system. Its inspirational ideas may be adopted by the Czech educational system. The practical part of this project focuses on a list of recommendations based on my attempts to find a way of developing pupils' communicative skills within learning English.
