The dissertation is concemed with the advisory competence of the organs of socio-legal protection of children, and is specifically focused on the theme of families of children with health disabilities. It summarises the principle problem areas relating to health disability, the position of people with health disabilities in the conditions of contemporary society and the interactions between the impacts of these problems on the family of a a child with health disabilities. It then looks in detail at advisory services as one of methods employed in social work, and on the basis of a survey identifies whether and to what extent social workers are competent to provide or arrange for advisory assistance for families in the care, upbringing and education of children with health disabilities.
