Summary:Diploma thesis Transformations of the European Welfare State under the Pressure of Globalization focuses on transformation of social policies in European countries which are caused by globalization. The thesis considers welfare state in the broader sense of the human rights. It assumes that the welfare state have played important role not only when protecting the social rights of an individual but also regarding the economic and political stability of the society. While analyzing the relations of globalization and welfare state the thesis relates to the theory of decomodification and related Esping-Andersen's typology of the three basic welfare regimes. Regarding the transformations of the welfare state the thesis focuses not only on changes caused by globalization in the economic field, but it also analyses the processes in society and political systems which have also very strong influence on the shape of the social system. At the close the thesis concentrates on how the changes in the economy, society and political system influence specific welfare regimes and to which extend do they support the process of recomodification of social rights. The work has the ambition to capture a more comprehensive view, which does not perceive the welfare state as a passive victim of (economic) globalization but...
