Summary:The thesis focuses on the possibilities of using the history of mathematics in its teaching. It is divided into two parts. The theoretical part describes some opinions on the use of the history of mathematics in mathematical teaching. So called genetic principle which strives for the inclusion of historical elements in teaching is elaborated in detail. Next, some textbooks for primary and secondary schools are analysed from the point of view of included historical notes and problems. The goal of the practical part was to make proposals for the teaching of mathematics with historical elements and their realisation in teaching practice. It was organised during so called project days at a Faculty Primary School. The course of work in two project days is described in detail and analysed and based on the results of analysis, two proposals connecting mathematics, history and geography are made, namely "India and Indian multiplication" and "Pythagoras, the Brotherhood of Pythagoreans and figural numbers". Original worksheets for pupils and presentation for teachers are included in the appendix.
