Summary:OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to investigate the incidence of atherosclerotic changes before and after physical activity, especially lipid profile, hsCRP and homocysteine. INTRODUCTION: Atherosclerosis is reflected in a growing number of people even at a young age today. Therefore atherosclerotic changes occur much earlier. Elderly patients do not pay much attention to non-pharmacological measures in the treatment of cardiovascular disease. METHODS: In this work was studied 16 patients who had also regularly physical activity during the six months. Patients should regularly walk every day approximately 10,000 steps. At the beginnig of the study, samples of blood were taken from each person and the same procedure was repeated after six months. We compared lipid, glucose, hsCRP, homocysteine, and also smoking. MAIN FINDINGS: The comparison of the result showed the trend that physical activity performed by women has improved lipid spectrum- The level of the total cholesterol slightly decreased, the level of HDL cholesterol increased, the levels of LDL cholesterol, triglycerides and lipoprotein (a) decreased, the level homocysteine was also reduced, the blood levels of hsCRP increased.
