Professional prison staff as well as civilian workers on the different positions work with the sentenced during their incarceration. Continuity of the care is essential especially in the realm of social services. The released can seek out assistance from both governmental and non-governmental organizations with various scopes of activities. This form of assistance proves to be ineffective for many of the released for various reasons. They are at risk of social exclusion. Both governmental and non-governmental organizations strive to seek constantly new ways of effective assistance to these people. They look for successful models even from other countries. Churches also participate in these efforts. Local churches and fellowships might be able to find some new possibilities how to assist the released who are at high risk of social exclusion. The thesis also provides an outline of a social assistance project that could be implemented by a local church fellowship.
