Intervenção arquitectónica em contexto arqueológico. O Atelier 15 em Idanha-a-Velha

Esta dissertação é o resultado de uma discussão iniciada na disciplina de Intervenção Arquitectónica em Contexto Arqueológico do curso de Mestrado Integrado em Arquitetura. Partindo do tema da Intervenção sobre a ruína, selecionamos cinco projetos em Idanha-a-Velha, da autoria dos arquitetos Alexandre Alves Costa e Sergio Fernandez, que juntos compõem o Atelier 15. De forma a construirmos um raciocínio crítico sobre estas intervenções, tornou-se estritamente necessária a leitura e apreensão das teorias de conservação e restauro e a dualidade de discursos frente à ruina e ao monumento, desde John Ruskin e Viollet-le-Duc, aos autores mais atuais, e as perspetivas de Françoise Choay e Ignacio González-Varas, entre outros. Exploramos, igualmente, os conceitos terminológicos que fazem parte deste campo, muitas vezes ambíguo, e as Cartas e Recomendações Internacionais. Procuramos expor a riqueza do que foi Idanha-a-Velha, e os fragmentos que ainda perduram de Roma, dos suevos e visigodos, dos árabes, e da Reconquista, com a finalidade de despertar o interesse e a curiosidade de quem queira esventrar no passado de Idanha, revelando a importância do reconhecimento deste passado para as intervenções contemporâneas sobre a ruína.A abordagem passa por conciliar os conceitos e a evolução dos princípios de atuação sobre o património com as intervenções realizadas pelo atelier em Idanha-a-Velha, por se tratar de um lugar complexo, onde o confluir de tempos e civilizações atestam uma singularidade capaz de suscitar qualquer encantamento. === This master thesis is the result of a discussion begun in the discipline of Architectural Intervention in Archaeological Context of the course of Integrated Master Degree in Architecture. Based on the theme of the Intervention on the ruin, we selected five projects in Idanha-a-Velha, by the architects Alexandre Alves Costa and Sergio Fernandez, that together form the Atelier 15. In order to build a critical reasoning about these interventions, it has become absolutely necessary to read and seizure the conservation and restoration theories and the duality of speeches against the ruin and the monument, from John Ruskin and Viollet-le-Duc, to the most current authors, and the prospects of Françoise Choay and Ignacio González-Varas, among others. We also explore the terminology concepts, that are part of this field, often ambiguous, and the International Letters and Recommendations. We seek to expose the richness of what was Idanha-a-Velha, and the fragments that still linger of Rome, the Swabians and Visigoths, the Arabs, and the Portuguese reconquest, in order to arouse the interest and curiosity of those who want paunch the past of Idanha, revealing the importance of recognition of this past to the contemporary interventions on the ruin.The approach is to reconcile the concepts and the evolution of the acting principles on the heritage with the interventions made by the studio in Idanha-a-Velha, since it´s a complex place, where the confluence of times and civilizations attest a singularity able to raise any enchantment.
