Description
Summary:A spatial analysis and assessment of the Villarmayor megalithic group in the Tormes Valley, Salamanca, and an approach to the palaeolandscape is here presented. The geographical distribution of monuments clearly shows the relationships between the tombs, settlements, diversified resources and the river Tormes. The archaeological material has been studied from El Guijo burial mound, thus allowing the contextualization of the first Megalithic phase in the Western Meseta. The relations of Megalithic and Neolithic cultural phenomena has been evaluated after the few available data in this area. Finally, a general occupation pattern is suggested, with two phases beginning around the middle of the IV millenium BC.
