Use of PMMA allows for simple, low cost construction, with channels formed either by embossing at relatively low temperatures (120ºC) or by direct machining. A simple room-temperature solvent bonding technique is also reported suitable for closing the channel. Initial results using milk show that both construction techniques allow lateral modes to be established, with visual confirmation of separation of lipids within the milk, offering the promise of disposable continuous concentration devices.
