Transfer Functions for the Response of Pipeline Pressures to Flow Changes

By approximating the equations for unsteady flow in a pipe carrying gas at high pressure, simple transfer functions relating the change in pressure at any point in the pipe to changes of flow into or out of the pipe are derived. It is shown how this may be applied to a pipe network.
