A rare case of hypercalcemic encephalopathy from ectopic secretion of parathyroid hormone
Abstract Altered mental status can be the initial presenting symptom of an ectopic hyperparathyroidism from severe hypercalcemia. A high index of suspicion for paraneoplastic hypercalcemia and a systematic approach to diagnosis should be considered.
