We counted and categorized the characters present in photos and figures of the collection. The classification of color/race used by the IBGE was used to account for the characters. A second analysis was made from only the photos that contained a group of characters, that is, more than two characters. Finally, a qualitative analysis of the way the characters were being represented was presented. It was observed that even the interdicts of federal legislation regarding the non-discrimination of Africans and Afro-Brazilians, the representation of them still deserves more attention on the part of those who elaborate and who analyzes the books to be distributed through public policies.https://www.revistas2.uepg.br/index.php/tp/article/view/12325/artigo%204discriminationracismgeography teaching |
