Late Antique Lamps with Defixiones

<span style="font-family: Times; font-size: medium;">Curse tablets placed in lamps thrown into the spring of Anna Perenna in Rome in late antiquity are explained in terms of the Christians' view of pagan water nymphs as still-active and malevolent demons.</span>
