Epidemics in ancient Rome and other Mediterranean countries
Epidemic diseases recorded in ancient Rome and surrounding Mediterranean countries from 53 BC to the onset of the Christian era are reviewed. With few exceptions historians omitted to record clinical details, which makes identification of diseases very difficult.
