Summary:This work aims to analyze how it is constituted the argumentation in the text “Ler devia ser proibido”, by Guiomar de Gramont, based on principles and concepts of the Argumentation in Language Theory (ANSCOMBRE; DUCROT, 1983), especially the notion of polifony, and principles and concepts of the Semantics Blocks Theory (DUCROT; CAREL, 2005). Some statements from text were selected and presented their argumentative chaining through the construction of argumentative quadrate of the semantic blocks. It was found that the chaining are normative, but the argument is paradoxical. Furthermore, it was found that the argumentative and polyphonic mechanism is constituted so to produce the irony in relation to the ideas presented.
