There are many actions of commerce transaction via the Internet including involved B-B (business-to-business) and B-C (business-to-consumer) trade. The advantages of commerce transaction using the Internet are fast trading action, shortening trade time, real-time trading information and increasing trading sates faction of both parties. The mold production is characterized as complicated process, long and significant variation of production cycle time. Consequently, the manufacturing planning and scheduling of the mold fabrication becomes a difficult task. An effective production planning and scheduling system using electronic commerce technologies can benefit with higher machine utilization, shorter cycle time, higher throughput rate, and greater customer satisfaction. We developed a web-based production planning and scheduling system for mold manufacturing. We proposed an knowledge-based expert system process planning for solving automated process planning problem of mold manufacturing, and used knowledge-based expert system to select suitable plan for the mold product. In addition, we have proposed a scheduling methodology to use genetic algorithm to search the best solution in processing sequence.
