The study was carried out to reseach the prevalence and risk factors of hyperuricemia for the fresh men of Providence University in 1999. The 1,940 samples of totally 2,377 complete the interviews is valid. The results of study showed the value of serum uric acid to be 7.751.15mg/dl in male students (n=803) and 6.30±1.28mg/dl in females students (n=1136). The prevalence of hyperuricemia was 51.1% (411/803) in male students and 42.2% (479/1136) in female students. The risk factors for hyperuricemia students, the results indicated that body mass index, waist-to-hip ratio, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, serum triglyceride, and creatinine were significantly and positively correlated with serum uric acid. While body fat was negative related to serum uric acid. Multiple regression analysis was used to explore the relation of nutritional knowledge and dietary pratices to anthropometric and biochemical measurements, dietary and lifestyle data. Statistically signnificant corelation analysis showed that nutritional knowledge was postively associated with dietary pratices, body mass index and serum uric acid. Dietary pratices was postively associated with nutritional knowledge; it was negatively associated with the frequency of curfew meal away. In summary, the prevalence of hyperuricemia was with an increased fact. The nutritional education program should be developed for dietary pratices. Mei-Ding Kao 高美丁 2002 學位論文 ; thesis 98 zh-TW
