Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 幼兒教育學系碩士班 === 93 === The main purpose of this study was to explore the relation between grandparents’ parenting involvement and children’s social-emotional behavior development and the factors affecting grandparents’ parenting involvement. Questionaire survey was applied to this study. Opinions were purposefully sampled among 274 kindergarten-aged children from some registered public and private kindergartens in Tainan and Kaohsiang city and county. Opinions were collected from two groups divided by grandparents’ involvement time: above and below 15 hours. Data was analyzed through Descriptive statistics, t test, Chi-square test, MANOVA, Pearson Product-moment Correlation. The main results were as follows: (1)Grandparents’ parenting behavior varied according to their education level and Mother’s vacation. The content of involvement varied according to grandparents’ education level, Mother’s vocation, Father’s education level and different nursing reason. (2)There was no significant relation between grandparents’ involvement time and children’s social-emotional behavior. (3)According to canonical correlation analysis, the more concernedly and respectfully educating behavior grandparents adopted, the more positive social-emotional behavior children had. The more guidance for daily discipline and interpersonal relationship grandparents gave, the more prosocial and friendly behavior children had. The more grandparents’ involvement in children’s recreational activities, the more children’s prosocial behavior. (4)According to regression analysis, children''s amiable behavior can be predicted by grandparents’ concerned behavior. Also, children’s independence and self-control behavior can be predicted by grandparents'' respectful behavior, guidance for interpersonal relationship and daily care. That''s, the more concerned behavior grandparents offered, the more amiable behavior children had; the more respectful behavior and guidance for interpersonal relationship grandparents offered, the more independent and self-control behavior children had; the less daily care, the more independence and self-control. Finally, according to the results, some constructive suggestions were offered as reference for building up future parenting counseling, family education, making policy and further study.
