碩士 === 國立高雄第一科技大學 === 行銷與流通管理所 === 94 === Abstract Under the global competition, how firms timely develop new products to meet the market demand have become a critical issue in today’s business. The thesis aims to develop a list of comparative measures by analyzing failed NPD projects for a mini-fan products design and manufacturing company. This study used depth-interview to collect data from senior project managers and senior engineers of the projects. The NPD stages and causes of failure are examined and summarized. According to the research, the NPD projects’ characteristics can be divided into 3 categories ─ high level, medium level and low level technology of projects. The study found that the failure problems in high level technology projects are located in the fuzzy front end stage. The solutions to those failure causes not only need the implementation of a full stage of NPD process but also employ NPD persons with creative characteristics. To build up a free flow communication mechanism in the organization is also required. As to medium and low level technology projects, we suggest that management should not only greatly implement NPD process but also enhance communication flow within the organization in order to further increase the performances of their NPD projects.
