Reading is an affair of personal participation. Reading contains the explicit and tacit dimension. When we read a text, we “see” the words and symbols on the explicit level, but we read and comprehend the meaning conveyed by them on the tacit level. Human being builds up their tacit powers through three kinds of learning—trick learning, sign-learning and latent learning. It is fully helpful to comprehend and understand the text with our inarticulate ability of reading as the articulate ability is enriched simultaneously. Whenever we perform an art or a skill, it is necessarily accompanied with two awareness—focal awareness and subsidiary awareness. We look at the words —this is subsidiary awareness, and we understand the meaning of the words—this is focal awareness. Moreover, we focus not only on the meaning of the words and the section, but also on the conception of the whole text. It is from-to relation that we read “from” words “to” understand the meaning. Finally, the process of reversibility or irreversibility is necessarily included in our reading, understanding or comprehension. We obtain the explicit knowledge and the tacit knowledge simultaneously by reading. The articulate powers and inarticulate powers are also reinforced by reading. Therefore, human mind would become healthy and strong by continuous reading. 賀瑞麟 2007 學位論文 ; thesis 108 zh-TW
