| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 音樂教育學系碩士班 === 95 === Muzio Clementi（1752--1832）and John Baptist Cramer（1771--1858） both had composed such important études that their work are popular and longlasting until now. However, these two brilliant composers as well as pianists have been forgotten for a long time.
This study first seeks to compare Clementi with Cramer about their biographies and contributions to classical music history. This was achieved by the review of related literature such as books, doctoral thesis, and journal articles.
Secondly, each piece of Clementi’s 《Gradus Ad Parnassum》and Cramer’s 《60 Selected Studies》was examined through‘content analysis’. The tool is named‘A list of the categories of piano playing technique from étude’. After investigating every piece in these two études, an overview of their value on piano pedagogy was explained.
To sum up, there are concerned recommendations for piano teachers, acdemic music researchers, and Taiwan’s sheet music publishers.
