This study adopted both quality and quantity action research. The research date was gathered from a low achievement class in the third grade of junior high school through the questionnaire of ARCS model motivation, class videotaping, students’ interview, student evaluations of the class, diaries of teaching reflection. After seven weeks of experimental instruction, the results were described as followings. 1. During applying the expermental teaching activities by using ARCS model, the researcher could motivate the students’ attention by performing computing teaching and group cooperation. Besides, the researcher also made the students who were in the low achievement class concentrate more on mathematics learning. 2. By means of ARCS model to proceed the expermental teaching activities, the researcher made the students feel support and responsibility when learning by using the group cooperation motivation strategies, and motivated the students who were in the low achievement class through the activity participation and performance. 3.In the process of the experimental teaching activities by using ARCS model, the researcher could raise the low achievement class students’ honor and self-confidence to gain the learning motivation of satisfaction by using positive feedback strategies, such as giving honor cards to the students who try hard to make progress. 4.There were some problems of applying the expermental teaching activities by using ARCS model : the students’ order wasn’t easy to control; the teaching process was limited by school curriculum; time for exploration activities wasn’t enough; the monthly exam scores might impact students’ learning motivation. Finally, the researcher concluded some suggestions for teachers who would like to apply ARCS model to design math teaching activities for the students in the low achievement class. Teachers should adjust the teaching attitude and to increase exploration activities, reflect themselves to revise the teaching process, and lead students to self-progress and set up the correct expectation to success.
